Art in Action: The Red Fred Project

As we've shown so far art in action can have unique goals, and just as unique a form. Today's topic is unique even amongst the unique groups we've looked at so far. The Red Fred project does handle some very difficult situations, but is equally as heartwarming as heart-wrenching.

So what is the Red Fred Project? The Red Fred Project was a started by an individual who encountered the horrible situation of family with a son who was diagnosed with a terminal illness. As many are aware this situation is one of the most emotionally painful experiences most humans could ever experience, and that kind of grief bleeds. It affects all those around who often feel paralyzed by the question, "What can I do?" Unlike most however, they came to a conclusion, they would help them write a book.

It affects all those around who often feel paralyzed by the question, "What can I do?" Unlike most however, they came to a conclusion, they would help them write a book.

So from that moment on the Red Fred Project was born, they reach out to children who are in the most difficult situation imaginable and they offer to help them create something that will exist into the future. While their lives may be cut tragically short, the works that Red Fred help them create continue on forever.

Red Fred provides a series of artists and collaborators to help make these children's dreams a reality. They do this with the help of "The Jolly Troop" a group of mascot birds made from punctuation and who are "Very inclined to being your friend" This group facilitates the child's imagination and helps "tell interesting stories only children know how to conjure "

The Red Fred Project goes to show that art reaching out and changing the lives of even just a few people at a time, can make the world of a difference, and help keep some of the embers of the worlds joy burning, even after their source has burned out. What these men and women do for these families and these children can't be understated, they leave the world just a bit brighter.
